Introduction to His Holliness Swami Shachchidananda Vishuddha Dev:

Whenever we memorize the Character Foundation Association and the Hamsada Yog Ashram, it is essential to have brief introduction to the highly regarded Swami Sachchidananda Vishuddha Dev. (Puma Chandra Sharma) who was born from an ideal Brahmin family in a rural area situated in the State of Jambu Kasmir, India in 1918. He had done master's degree in physics, politics and philosophy. After having gained knowledge in the Veda, Literatures, Purana, Yog, Psychology and Ayurveda from the Veda Institute situated in Rajauri Garden, Delhi, he received Sannyas from the Paramguru Swami Vidhyananda Bideha. During his Sannyas life, he attained God realization upon carrying out Tapasya (Austerity) in Gandharnadan Parbat in Mansarobar Kailash Parbat, Alakananda, Narmada, Badrinath, Kedarnath and Caves (Guphas) in other Himalayas. Then he appeared as Swami Sachchidananda Vishuddha Dev. Similarly, after making visits to almost all countries of the world, he came to Kathmandu via Beljhundi Dang of Nepal in 2040 B.S. (1983 A.D.) and started residing in Geeta Mandir, Swyambhu. Then, he lived in various places of Kathmandu; and he lived in Janagal, Banepa towards the end of his life. While serving the humankind, he took samadhi (lost his life), at the age of 83, at night on the Akshya Tritiya, 13 Baishakh 2058 B.S. (Apr. 26, 2001 A.D.).

His Holliness Swami has started the campaign of institutional development of Yog Sadhana in Nepal. Swami Sachchidananda Vishuddha Dev, the inspirer of high ideals, says: "The goal of all religions is to found character." He has wakened up all to bring about consciousness and vigilance about human character. Having totally detached from near and dear relatives and love and affection of the country, Swami dedicated himself to the welfare of the human beings in the globe. He was also a social reformist. He has launched the character building awareness campaign in Nepal in order to make the society and country well-managed, well-cultured and civilized. The Book titled "Maharshi Bishuddhadeva and Dibya Sadhana Sutra" written by Yogacharya Mr. Uddab Prasad Bhattarai talks of what sort of personality was Swamiji, how and to what end he launched the character foundation campaign.

Swami Bishuddhadev says: "One should be free from enimity, hatred and ill practices and materialize the great spell- understanding of the head, responsibility on the shoulders and honesty in heart. There is way except to realize the fact that character is not only a word but also a deed, character is not only a message but also an example and vow to improve one's character. This campaign is to make one's progress on his or her own and start the process right from oneself. A society defying character is always vulnerable to risks and crimes. One who suffers ill character does no longer remain as a human being, and becomes a devil. Character awareness building serves as a contributing factor. Therefore, behind overall development there should be character foundation. Spiritualism and materialism are complementary to each other; and all can breathe peacefully if human character foundation is achieved through coordination between these two.
